In this book, I have discussed how Japanese business can manage global regulatory risks in the areas including: sanctions; export control; AML/CFT; anti-bribery; anti-monopoly; data protection; cyber security; and SDGs/ESG. I have overviewed the regulatory trends of these compliance areas, including extra-territorial applications and diversification of laws and regulations.

In this book, I have discussed how Japanese business can pursue both the values of the society and the environment and its own corporate values under the era of “Stakeholder Capitalism”. I have proposed that business can analyze the dynamically evolving process of SDGs/ESG rules and use these rules proactively and strategically so that business can effectively address environmental and social agenda.

I have co-authored this book with the support of cyber security experts. This book discusses how Japanese business can manage cyber security risks both from legal and technical perspectives. The book shows practical steps which companies can take before and after cyber incidents.

In dialogues and collaboration with two other experts in international labor law and international human rights law, I authored how Japanese companies can manage with various human rights issues and the practical steps of human rights due diligence.
The topics include: migrant workers such as technical intern trainees; gender pay gap; increasing poverty through the pandemic; disputes related with climate change; facial recognition technology; development and corruption; geopolitical risks; supply chain due diligence; grievance mechanisms; and stakeholder engagement.

This was featured as one of the special articles in the March 2021 issue of World ECR, an international journal on economic sanctions and export control. The article analyzes the impact and challenges posed Japanese economic sanctions regulations and the U.S. OFAC regulations on Japanese companies. It provides insights into the current state of economic sanctions compliance in Japan, both within the government and among companies, and offers explanations on the future directions for compliance strategies.

This article, published on the International Bar Association (IBA) website, analyzes the latest trends and impacts of rules related to "responsible AI," including the EU's AI regulations, G7 Hiroshima Process International Guiding Principles and Code of Conduct for Advanced AI Systems, and Japan's AI Guidelines. The article also provides insights for companies to enhance transparency and accountability, without impeding innovation, particularly in unpredictable regulatory landscapes.
